I'm kind of bored of what I'm listening to now, so I'd like to ask all of you a question. Which album did you purchase within the last year that you consider absolutely phenomenal? I mean from the first to the last cut, not just a few good songs. ANY genre. The last great album I bought was Funhouse by Pink. She sends a shiver down my spine everytime she sings, the girl is THAT good............

Have you ever listened to her sing? She is no joke. And I'm not talking about the songs they play on the radio. Those aren't her best work.

I've worked that past 5 years in a record store.
Believe me when I say that I have heard a lot of music.
That being sad, yes I have listened to Pink, I don't really like her stuff, and I think she's a really ordinary/passable singer.IMO

If you like her , good for you, I don't.

I'd rather hear Marvin Gaye sneeze or Otis Redding fall down.

IMO IME etc.........

Fair Enough .But since neither Marvin Gaye nor Otis Redding came out with an album last year (unless it was released in the great beyond) they don't really qualify. Any other suggestions?

Released in very Late 07 but Definitly my favorite album in a very long time (since TOXICITY from System of a Down) Its metal but there is a good mix of melody as well as Female vocals both clean and growled, it also packs some excellent basslines.

I vote for "Automatic Monkey" by Crystal Flavola.

And yes, that is an act of shameless self-promotion...

Radiohead - In rainbows. Easily my fav record in the last decade.

Cheers,

That's a tough one. My three favorites, in no particular order:

Drive-By Truckers--Brighter Than Creation's Dark
The Roots--Rising Down
The Hold Steady--Stay Positive

I really need to get Dear Science. And Mike Watt just recorded a new one; based on the show I saw a month ago, it should be a great one.

Decemberadio - Satisfied - great tunes, great band and they sound just as good live. The bass player is also the lead singer too.

I will 2nd the Rafael Saadiq listing too.

True enough...but I waited for the jan 08 release. And since it supercedes anything released since in terms of quality....I voted for it.

Cheers,
BT
