I feel with basses rising in cost and exotic basses I am not sure the stands are getting better or have improved. Are there any newer companies making a strong and durable stand. I tried many and have many. But Im not crazy about any of the improvements in the last 10 years. Anybody seen any good ones or something of interest?
Not crazy over the hercules types nor the A frame ones (which I own). I have heard so many horror stories that I am just thinking of or hopefully some company with total safety and durability in mind.

| | | | I like those $7 ones that are in GC. And those $3 sledge hammer hangers work very well for hanging guitars on the wall.

It sucked to have to pay $35 for a stand, but it's got a decently small stage footprint and it's great for instruments with asymmetrical bottoms. I always had a helluva time getting a Jazz to sit in an A-frame stand... |

At first I thought it was cheezy but now it's my favorite. It's plastic, one piece, stable and it folds flat when not in use so it's lightweight and easy to carry. I've never been able to find one anywhere else. It's the one I always take to gigs. |

I would pay the price for a stand that you know is so durable and you never have any worries that it would falter. We pay so much for our instruments I would pay the extra to buy something that is extremely sturdy and unbreakable. But what you have is one of the better but its a shame its one of the better. There seem to be so much developements in basses and pickups. Cases and pedals, New developements with strings and bridges. But the stand that protects hasn't really come along as well. Be nice if someone did.

And that was because I walked into it while I was walking through my dark bedroom. On stage, the only way I could see an instrument being dumped off of a stand is operator error (wether that is running into it, leaving the lead plugged in and tripping over it, or not setting the stand up right).
The sledge hammer hangers have yet to budge. Not like any of my instruments are heavier than 9 pounds though.

| | In the deep end | | Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: San Antonio, TX | | | I have a generic foam stand and a Kaman ULTRA stand. The cheap-o one is missing all its feet and the foam is starting to come apart ago and the Kaman's rubber is cracking and the stand itself is bent to hell and back. I'll be replacing them with Hercules stands. |

Light weight, stable, and a great soft holder with a good "lock the neck in" feature.
I don't use my Ultimate gs100 anymore. I've had a few necks not sit quite right in the "V". Almost had a few accidents. |

The only design flaw I see in today's stands on the market? They don't keep the drunks away. |

They do have a larger footprint than some stands, so in the event that I don't have a lot of room or really want to pack light I'll use an Ultimate GS100.

At home and in the rehearsal space, it's those cheap "gripping" K&N wall hangers that hang my instruments.
Live, I usually use Warwoick 5 instrument stand, never failed me in use.
An idiot pried one of the posts from the base setting it up once though.
Obviously, those tubular ss corners aren't original .
BTW, if someone knows what is (was?) the deal with Warwoick, I'd be interested to know.
Google doesn't offer any help.
The cast logo is dead on with Warwick, except for the "spelling error" of course.
