I'm off to Los Angeles on business this week and I've only ever wandered into the GC on Sunset to poke around. What is the best IYO bass store in LA to check out? Thanks in advance.

There's the Carvin store in Hollywood as well - across the street from the GC on Sunset. And Sam Ash right there too - as well as a bunch of small shops in that area.

LowBSix works there, he gave me a nice deal on a Yamaha RBX4 A2. Ask for Rich on the guitar store (the store is split into 2 buildings)

| | | | I live near LA and Im pretty sure that there is a mesa boogie shop on the other side of the street next to GC. Mesa Boogie bass amps are the bomb! For guitars, I just get a bass at GC. |

It is a small shop but they have all the Boogie amps, some nice instruments and a decent selection of boutique stomp boxes.
As mentioned... True Tone in Santa Monica is a great place to see a lot of gear that you only read about, but it's 80% guitar shop. They also have a nice selection of boutique stomp boxes.

If you've been to the GC there, then all you have to do is visit the other shops all on that same block to keep you in plenty of trouble, some are across the street: GC, Sam Ash, Mesa, Carvin, and a vintage shop across the street west of GC, I wanna say it's called Freedom Guitar?
Seems like alot there now, but I remember back in the 90's when there was twice as many stores and vintage galore. |
