Not in Sacramento, overpriced. Bay Area is a little better (more variety, most still overpriced but more distressed sellers). You have to be on your toes to get a deal, someone else will beat you to it if you're not fast. What I noticed is a lot of petulant arguments in the music instrument sections that I don't see in other for sale sections. They're good for a laugh, at least.

The breadbasket/midwest, although not a specific city, is constantly full of great deals on gear. There's always tons of great stuff between Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Nebraska. If you don't mind a few hours drive to save some money.
