In case this hasn't come up before, who are among the very best drummer/bassist teams from the classic rock era?
I'm sure there will be plenty of votes for JPJ/Bonzo and Moon/Entwistle. And I wouldn't dispute it. But for my money, one of the very best - and probably under-rated at that - is Roger Taylor & John Deacon of Queen.
And that's mostly because, as solid and strong as Deacon's playing is, Roger Taylor is simply one of the best high-energy rock drummers ever. Just listen to the first three Queen albums. Taylor plays with all the energy & intensity of Keith Moon - but with precision, discipline and focus. Not to mention sensitivity to dynamics and all-around fine musicianship. He's simply superb.
Whatcha think?

and a big +1 to the OP's choices, JPJ/Bonzo and Moon/Entwistle.
Edit: and let's include Hal Blaine and various session bassists, including Carol Kaye, on dozens of pop radio hits!

MysticMichael, I agree with your praise of Queen. I just listened to Jazz today driving to Barstow and back, and John Deacon uses space as well as any bassist I've heard, and the notes he does play are always melodic, tasteful and supportive.
