His Primus stuff and his solo stuff are two different animals.

Best Primus albums:
Sailing the Seas of Cheese
Frizzle Fry
Pork Soda

Best solo stuff:
Purple Onion
Live Frogs Set 1
Of Wales and Woe

Also check out Oysterhead.

But if I were to rate my favorite four, it would be Seas, Frizzle, Purple Onion, and Animals Should Not Act Like People.

joe gress is correct. les's solo stuff is different from his primus stuff

for primus: sailing the seas of cheese
frizzle fry
pork soda
antipop

for les's solo: les claypool and the holy mackerel - highball with the devil
oysterhead - the grand pecking order
the les claypool frog brigade - purple onion

my top 2: sailing the seas of cheese and highball with the devil

I really dig C2B3 for his solo stuff. That is a fantastic album.

IMO, there are three Primus essentials, listed here in chronological order:
- Seas of Cheese
- Pork Soda
- Tales from the Punchbowl

I've seen Les play in just about every band incarnation he's done over the years. Primus is way better than any of his side projects. Les puts on a killer show in any capacity, but for records you should focus on Primus starting out.

Nothing tops "Suck On This" and "Frizzle Fry". Sausage isn't too far behind. I think Les is best with Huth on guitar and/or writing. Larry is great, but I think that as Todd's stuff and influence got used up after Frizzle Fry... the band kinda weakened.

"Live Frogs Vol 2" is killer as well (Huth is back with Les for that)... but I'm a big Pink Floyd fan too.

That's one of my favorite albums of all time. Every time I listen to it, I feel better than before.
