Not sure if this is the place to post this question, but I'm wondering what people are using out there for double gig bags. I have an undercover double and its getting pretty worn out. I'd like to find something a little more protective.
I'd like to get some feedback and info from people using the following bags:
Incase dub bag- very cool, protective, but heavy and seems like they're hard to find/unavailable.
Reunion blues double electric bag- padded and super nice but spendy, like $500+
Undercover double- nice, and I have one now, but I'd like something a little more heavy duty
The Lowend double bag- they look nice, but I've never heard anything about them from users. Any comments?
Levy- Haven't ever laid hands on one, opinions?
Its too bad the Reunion blues one is so spendy, it looks really nice. I'd like to find something similar in terms of density and solidness but just a bit cheaper. Also if anyone knows what the deal is with availability on incase dub bags, let me know.
thanks |

I REALLY wish Sadowsky would make a double version of the Portabag!! The Portabag is hands down the best single out there! The Incase is really nice and a good balance between bag/case. My only criticism is I can't get all the stuff in it comfortably that I'd like.
Peace,
T

It looks like it will protect my basses pretty well. I need to get some shoulder pads for the straps though.

Maybe the 1st one they ever made, custom ordered some ten years ago and still holding up well it's made of HEMP with leather trim ... When it was ordered if I remember they said it was the 1st double bass bag they had made. |

I am about to get another double and would seriously consider a hemp bag. The stuff is like Kryptonite! I have a jacket made out of hemp that still looks like it did the day I bought it almost 20 years ago!!!
BTW - I got my 4th Incase Double bag just a few months ago so I know they did have some fairly recently. I don't know if that is still the case...
Peace,
T

| | There's more music in the nuance than the notes. Staff, Bass Gear Magazine | | Join Date: Oct 2002 Location: Central Illinois | | | IMHO, InCase DUB... all the way, and IMHO, those are not heavy at all for all the protection they offer, and surprisingly easy to carry due to their shape. The only downside is single zipper, so you gotta' take the top bass out, or at least lift it up, to get to the bottom one. Personally tho, my fave. |

My MTD is about three-quarters of an inch too long for it (I *can* zip it closed, but only if it's the only bass inside), and it won't zip closed with both of my Line6 Variaxes inside, just because it's not deep enough front-to-back. I can carry my MTD and my Line6 (about the size of a Jazz bass) inside if I leave the very top of it open (because of the length of the MTD). It's otherwise well-built and durable. If you have two smaller-bodied instruments, it would be perfect. I finally went ahead and bought a Gator double-bag: http://www.gatorcases.com/productsde...x?LID=2&PID=34
If I recall correctly it was only $50 with tax. Not as much padding as the Undercover bag, but it's held up perfectly for the last 5 months (50 gigs) or so! I love that I can carry my Markbass LMII bag with cables and junk in one hand, my Schroeder 1210L in the other, and my main & backup basses on my back, all in one trip from the van

I bought a Gator Double Slinger Bag and it works great
Well padded - even the carry straps. Well padded between bass compartments
Plenty of room for music and extras in outer zipper pocket
Strap contains zipper compartment for cellphone

loved my first one, but it was too short for my Benavente so I'm waiting on my custom to get here from Bolivia (should be here in another week). |

thanks | The reunion blues bag that is $500 is leather, the fabric is less. I have had one for over 10 years, it has been on hundreds of gigs and held up great. I posted it for sale in the classifieds here because I don't bring two basses anymore and want the incase slimbag. Feel free to find that post if you would be interested and hopefully mentioning it in this thread does not break a rule, if so I apologize and will delete the post. But it is a great bag, and fits 35" scale basses with no problem. |

There is no comparison IMHO/IME. Roger has really nailed what a single bag should be! I hope he turns his attentions to the Double bag soon!
Oh BTW - I have had multiples of each!!
Peace,
T
