Best In-Ear Headphones for about $200?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for recommendations on the in-ear headphones, in the $200 range. Right now, I'm looking at the M-Audio IE-30 and Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro. What I'm looking for is a fairly flat response, with solid bass reproduction. Thanks.

I love my Future Sonic Atrio M5's ($139) Very solid bass, clean and clear, not woofy. I also have tried Westone UM1's (very comfortable, best cable, but not strong enough in the bass range for live use) and Shure E2's, which I guess were okay, and they are really cheap now (approx $60)

Not on your list, but I'd recommend against Etymotics based upon my experience. I got a set in late September or early October, and they are already messed up (the volume in one ear is much lower than the other). Prior to that, they sounded great in the mid range, but I always wanted to boost the bass.

I'm sure others have had ERs for longer with no problems, take that into consideration...just offering my experience.

FWIW I've had my Etymotics for 5 years with no problems and performance that delivers what you are looking for. Very satisfied.
I would steer clear of thier low end i-pod models though as my son had problems (loose conection at earphone) with his. I noticed that the design was markedly different from the other model I have and is IMO an engineering flaw that will fail given time .

Ultimate ears are good.. so are M-audio. I enjoy Future sonics stuff as well, i have both types of future sonics.

I have heard good things about livewires. they are customs so you will need to get impressions done. They sell for $250 so they are a little above your price range.

you can check them out here: http://www.livewiresforyou.com/
