I was wondering what the best (stable, durable, portable) bass guitar stand is on the market? What features should I look for and what features should I avoid? This is the one I was looking at http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...oke?sku=453081 but I'm afraid the part the supports the neck might bend it if left there for too long, which is why I am looking for back support. Is the bending of the neck even a problem? Otherwise I'd go with this one: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...and?sku=453079
What about wall mounted ones? Thanks

The Ultimate GS50 is my favorite. This stand is the smallest and most stable stand I've ever used, and I've used this stand with all kinds of bass body types including my Sadowsky J style bass and my Ken Smith 7 string. http://www.music123.com/Music123/Ult...0-i45920.music

If you mean is there any way that type stand can cause the neck to be harmed or damaged in any, then the answer is no. In fact the intention of the design is that the neck is not involved in the support of the bass whatsoever.

They also thought it might've been do to humidty.

And I'm sorry, but I think it is total ridiculas to be worried about the neck getting out of whack from resting like this. There's simply not enough weight/pressure on the neck while in an upright position.
If you put your finger between the back of the neck and the back support of the stand, there's less than a pound of pressure there, and given the size/thickness of the wood used for the neck, it wouldn't be a problem. |
