Question Best Electric Bass stand?

Sign in to disble this ad
I was wondering what the best (stable, durable, portable) bass guitar stand is on the market? What features should I look for and what features should I avoid? This is the one I was looking at http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...oke?sku=453081 but I'm afraid the part the supports the neck might bend it if left there for too long, which is why I am looking for back support. Is the bending of the neck even a problem? Otherwise I'd go with this one: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...and?sku=453079

What about wall mounted ones? Thanks

Musician's friend doesn't carry these at the moment, bust Music 123 has them. The Ultimate GS50 is my favorite. This stand is the smallest and most stable stand I've ever used, and I've used this stand with all kinds of bass body types including my Sadowsky J style bass and my Ken Smith 7 string.

Nice, that is similar to the smaller Hercules. I'll end up getting the Herc I think because I have a $25 coupon for MF. Is it a myth that the neck can get realigned from leaning against those yokes?

I've never heard of a neck becoming "realigned", regardless of the cause. If you mean is there any way that type stand can cause the neck to be harmed or damaged in any, then the answer is no. In fact the intention of the design is that the neck is not involved in the support of the bass whatsoever.

About the neck deal, I'm going primarily on a post I read a little while ago about how someone leaned their bass neck against a wall overnight and it was a little out of shape when they got back to it. They also thought it might've been do to humidty.

This is what I use. And I'm sorry, but I think it is total ridiculas to be worried about the neck getting out of whack from resting like this. There's simply not enough weight/pressure on the neck while in an upright position.

If you put your finger between the back of the neck and the back support of the stand, there's less than a pound of pressure there, and given the size/thickness of the wood used for the neck, it wouldn't be a problem.

Don't know about the Hercules stand, but this one is my favorite. Sturdy and well designed.
