I have been using a Road Runner bag ($30 I think) for about 3 years and it has been a great value as it still works fine after almost daily use. I am however finally buying a Pedulla and would like something with a bit more padding. I'm looking in the $150ish range. It's a Rapture btw so a bag that runs a little small would probably be okay. Thanks for the thoughts, Dale |

The downside is that there aren't a lot of pockets on it, so if you want to carry everything in the bag, you'll be disappointed. I like the fact that if it rips, I can just take the bag to a leather worker in town and have them sew it up.
The deluxe Rockbag that came with my Warwick is also very nice. Very thickly padded, has the support by the neck (and also straps it in) and a couple more pockets. |

I drag my bass all over the place and I'm stuck with public transportation until I can afford a car. |

but I like the features it has. I think I would lean more towards the low key look of the Mooradian. The one on bass central looks decent too. Any other thoughts? |

Loaded with features and able to carry a LOT of stuff. It is very tough and has a LOT of protection for your bass. I have had them all and it is my first choice in a single...I also like the Sadowsky very much but it is not as streamlined and I don't think it will hold as much comfortably as the IGIG...check them out here! http://www.mikobass.com/Shop/iGIG/
Peace,

They used to do a model called the Wingman which didn't have the massive front pocket. Didn't realise they had dropped that line. It was very sleek.

Forgot about them, thanks bad monkey. | That is the only downside to my Levy's bag; they have one pouch up front and a smaller one by the headstock. Not bad for shows where I only need to keep a cable, cleaning rags and strap. I have a toolbox for all the other stuff.
I will say I had a Rockbag years ago and it was just "okay." This new one I got with the bass really is quite nice. It has a lot of pockets everywhere to keep most anything you might need. My only complaint was that years ago, the main pocket on the front they ran the zipper lengthwise, which was nice if you had sheet music to carry. They went back to putting the zipper on the top, which still works, but was a little more handy the other way. |

The mono cases look like one of the best choices but I just can't get past the 'metrosexual' kinda vibe I get off the stitching. I might get over it.
I think I can do better than the rockbag, although for 30-40 bucks they seem like a pretty good deal.

I think if I bought the all suede I would just get jumped one day! Thanks for all the great input folks! Keep 'em coming as I'm not going to order for a week or so. |

Very nice case, but I can't speak for its longevity (especially since it's my back-up case or if I need to bring two basses to a show). |

| | | | Most of the hybrid bags (Mono, iGig, etc.) are over your price range.
The best 'budget' hybrid bag I've seen is the Protec Contego (if I have that name right). Many top line luthier's use this bag to ship their basses in (FBass, Skjold, Rob Allen). Pleny of protection, plenty of pockets, reasonable quality for around $100 or a little more.
If you want to spend more and don't need massive pocket storage space, the Mono is probably the best bag out there right now regarding the combination of light weight, protection, quality and 'feel when strapped to your back'. Wonderful cases with the only negative I see being a bit limited storage space in the small pockets.
The iGig bag has massive storage, but is more of a 'soft bag' versus the stiffer hybrids like the inCase, Mono and Sadowsky bag. I could not come to terms with those huge pockets attached to a relatively soft bag... felt cumbersome when walking, and was a pain to get the bass in and out of when loaded. Nice bag though it you want virtually everything on your back (micro head, all pedals, all cables, extension cord, etc., etc.)
IMO and IME! |

| | | | Have your checked out the Reunion Blues Continental bag? It is only a bit out of your $150 range (for $169 on Amazon). It seems to be one of the hybrid cases like the Mono. I lobbied hard for the Reunion Blues bag for Xmas but did not get; will try again for B-Day! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
