I'm wondering what are good/cool store to go to around the Atlanta area to look at basses and amps and such. I've been to all the guitar centers and the like and its all the normal mainstream stuff...boring...
anyplace you guys would suggest?

+1 Very relaxed atmosphere and huge selection. Jim is super low pressure (you'll have to ask for advice if you want it) and there's no salesmanship going on. Good prices and will generally do a cash discount on large purchases.
