best operating system/programs for music

does anyone know of any operating systems good for producing music? i.e. currently operating on windows xp, terrible, theres no music programming at all, whereas a mac would have garage band which is great, from what i hear.

anyways, short of getting mac installed, i wondered if anyone knew of any operating systems (like maybe if someone had written a linux os suited for music), or any programs such as garage band, i know of pro tools and sibelius i plan on buying one of them once i can afford it.

there are loads (1000's) of Windows music programs.
One the Linux path, Ubuntu Studio might be what you are after.
I recon the mac OsX has the least options open, and installing OsX on a PC is almost impossible to run stable.
