Best place for Dunlop picks?

Sign in to disble this ad
So for the past few months, I've really been working on my pick playing on bass. I was never a fan of picks, I even finger picked on guitar.

So I've been trying literally every kind of pick I can get my hands on, seeing whats comfortable, and what gives good sounds.

I've found two picks that I really like.

Those big old felt picks (the hofner picks) as well as the Dunlop 1.14mm picks. I use the felt ones for flat wound basses and the Dunlops for basses with rounds.

I think I've got plenty of the felt ones as I've got around 20 and they never seem to wear out and I never seem to lose them.

I've got one Dunlop 1.14mm pick and a bunch of the .88s though I greatly prefer the larger one. So my question is, where do I get them in bulk? The cheaper the better but anything is better than the 4 for a dollar at my local store.

I used to get my Dunlops through Elderly music (www.elderly.com). They used to be a lot cheaper than others.

I used to get the giant triangles for $0.25, but they went up to $0.40. Still not bad.

Hitting your strings.

Try a hard felt Mandolin pick. Sound of your fingers plus great attack and pickness too.

As far as the Dunlop nylon picks- I prefer the 1mm- the black ones.

My first preference is for the Herco Flex 75s. Some of them are stiffer than others, and I prefer the stiffer ones- so I end up going through the drawer and cherry picking the ones I want.

I also really like the Brain picks by Snarling Dog. Oddly enough, I always called them "cat's tongue" picks because the grip stuff feels like a cat's tongue...
