Best place to try out high-end basses?

What's the best place to try out high-end/custom basses? My local GC doesn't have any good gear new or used ever. The best it's ever had is a Modulus on sale for 2000 dollars. It's a decent bass, but that's the only bass there that was not mass-produced.

Get to Rudys on 48th Street in NYC, lots of high end stuff. Also, New Jersey Guitar and Bass Center in Edison has a lot a great stuff too.

I'm not real familiar with Jersey, so I'm not sure where in the state you are, but G Guitars in New Haven has great stuff.
