Best Rack Tuner

Sign in to disble this ad
I did a quick search and didn't really find what i was looking for, so I hope this thread isn't too redundant.

i like a rack tuner, but the one i have is just not cutting the mustard. it's an older Sabine.

I really want to try a Korg tuner, but I've heard alot of talk of them being noisy if you use the effects loop (in and out of the unit).

can't afford the best of the best, but I wanted to see if anyone has found a decent rack tuner, not too noisy, registers low B, won't break the bank.

open to discussion of pedal tuners and handhelds as well, but really hoping to find the rack tuner that i've been wating for.

I have a Korg, it is noisy, but simply solved by sending the tuner out signal to it, instead of having it in the signal path.

thanks for the reply. i should have clarified, i really need something that i can mute before it goes to the direct box, thus the desire for the in/out effects loop.

right now i run my signal chain like this:

two basses to
a/b selector to
tuner in.out to
volume pedal
to DI to
house and amp

that way i can put the volume pedal down and tune without signal passing to the house or to my rig.

i'm open to signal path suggestions too. my main amp does have a tuner out and a mute switch.

Take it from the tuner out. Use the volume pedal to mute.

maybe i'm misunderstanding your suggestion, but if i use the tuner out, i can't use the volume pedal because there will be no sound to the tuner.

i have to run the tuner before the volume pedal so that the tuner still gets sound, but the volume pedal keeps it from going to the house or through my rig.

starting to think a pedal tuner is the way to go.

Lots of tuner threads in the effects section. I use a Korg DTR2000. I like it.
