The best songs are unorthodox.

This is just my opinion, but the best "rock" songs I've heard always have something that I consider unorthodox, in the way of musical instruments.

Sitar, lap steel guitar, electric or acoustic 12 string, mandolin, ukulele, banjo, violin, horns, exotic drums, etc. It just seems a little ironic but I love the creativity and the thinking outside the box.

The great thing about even being in a cover band, is that you can try applying some of this, especially if you have a good amp modelling processor - it's time to leverage technology, I think.

Sitar's have always interested me, and I love hearing them in many styles of music. I've tossed around the idea of buying one, but they aren't exactly cheap nor in heavy rotation.

Today, I found an 'electric sitar' on craigslist that I sent a lowball offer of $300 on (electric sitar wasnt exactly at the top of.. or even on my list hehe) an 'Italia' E. Sitar. With any luck the seller takes the offer, and it doesnt sound like crap
