Best way to record live show?

Sign in to disble this ad
Im thinking about recording a show we have in a week or so, what is the best way to go about this? it wont have a big PA, only the vocals going through it, would a few well setup mics on the stage into a seperate mixer, and an aux out from the PA to the seperate mixer sound alright? (probably record onto MP3 from the other mixer)

Also, is there an easy way to record guitar at home through the PC, we have a mixer, and the DI from my sansamp BDDI is pretty good stand alone, but we could always have a mic, but it would only be a vocal mic for recording it. the big problem comes when we try to figure out what to do with the guitar, its a JCM900 into a 1936 (2x12) cab that my guitarist uses, i think it does have a preamp out bit, but, probably wont sound too good, any suggestions?

Cheers guys
- Will

My band uses a Roland VS-2000CD that our guitarist's father owns. It works very well.
