How long does the battery last? After I get a new bass im going to take the $200 or so from christmas and buy an X2 wireless

Like someone else said earlier, make sure that you get the upgraded cable for the transmitter. Mine works flawless and sounds great. If I use a good alkaline battery (Everyready or Duracell) I can get 1 to 1 1/2 four hour shows out of it.

I can get about 6 hours with a Duracell, less with a no-name battery. |

To answer the OP's question, you want to look for a unit that will go down to 25 hz. The Shure ULXS and ULXP units fall in that category. I think the X2 digital units may even go down to 10 hz. They get a lot of good press around here for sound quality, but they may be slightly fragile.

I can't remember whether it was Father's Day, or a Birthday, or Christmas, but I love mine. I get a party-size brick of 9Vs at Coscto and don't sweat the battery use. When they're spent, I lob another one in.
I'm not a performing artist, but when I'm practicing, recording, or rehearsing, it's great to eliminate the trip hazard/tether. Zero sonic loss to my ears compared to a cable, using the same bass and rig. Best of all, it's lower response limit is all the way down to 10 Hz, so it can nicely handle the five-banger...

I have one on order with Sam Ash which I am told will be shipping in January. The G30 operates on 2.4 mHz frequency and has received good reviews in Europe. Hopefully I will have mine soon to give a review. |

From what I have read, anything that operates on 2.4 GHZ may be subject to new FCC laws when they decide to start using that frequency, so the X2 looks like a good choice in that respect. The thing I want to know about the X2 is how it works with basses with active electronics. Does it have a regular 1/4" plug or is it a TRS that plucs into the bass? How well does it work with a 5 string? I know with all my basses with active electronics, they don't work with my ampified headphones because of the TRS (stereo) plug. |

No problems whatsoever...well...other than battery life. I get about 10-12 hours with an Energizer Plus (or whatever they market now). It uses a regular 1/4" plug, which I had to replace because it shorted after being tugged on too much (kinda because it's not a 90°). Good news is Line6 sent me a new one post haste. If I ever lose it, I'd buy another without hesitation.

I have an old Nady one lying around which worked in its day (I got it probably more than ten years ago), but I'm looking for something better now. Any recommendations for something current? Not worried about huge distances...main concern is sound quality and being able to move around the bars and other places we play. Thanks.

The low E is 41 Hz and the low B is 31. Some wireless set-ups are designed for guitar, so be sure the one you choose can handle the lowest freq you use.

There's a review in Bass Player magazine here (they changed the name to Relay when Line6 bought them out): http://www.bassplayer.com/article/x2...5/jan-08/33231

My recommendation would be any of the Line 6 G series units. I have the G30 and it has performed flawlessly. I'd give 'um a look.

And I've used it live allot, never had any problems with the frequency response (neither did a professional bass and double bass player i know)
