The Big Free Music Related Software Thread

Over the past couple of weeks, I have searched the net and TB Forums to get some software and Web Flash to help me in playing bass.

I have come up with a few, and seen several on TB, but not all in one place.

If you have any FREE MUSIC RELATED software or Web Flash to contribute, please post them here so the rest of TB can use these valuable resources.

Some may require registration with an email address, but none of these cost a penny to own.

Please only submit freeware Software, not Demos.

www.activebass.com has a sweet "track builder" its under the toolbar near the top of the page (you choose the chords and measures in the progression) . That's all I got right now but I'll keep searching. This is an awesome thread by the way.

Good scale and chord reference.
There's also a guitar section.

irjason, the Hammerhead software is pretty cool and esay to use.

Pizzacato, I've used the ActiveBass site for years, and it completely slipped my mind. Good call.

Jazzin', great chord reference site. I like that it gives the Intervals, Half-steps, and notes in the chord instead of just the notes like many sites out there.

Great stuff guys, let's get some more on here.

BTW, Would it be a good idea for me to edit my first post to include those that are submited by others (Giving credit where credit is due) so that future generations can find the links easier, or just leave it as is?

Though it's nag-free uncrippled shareware, and not true freeware, there's Reaper. Multitrack audio recorder/MIDI sequencer. http://www.cockos.com/reaper/

is there any software that will allow you to listen to just the bass in a song?

No. It's not possible to take out everything but the bass. You could filter all the high freqencies out, but that would just make it harder to hear. The best way to make out hard-to-hear lines is to use some good headphones to listen to them.

MIDI files are, of course, an exception. Any MIDI editor can solo a track.

My free Musical Scales program for OS X can be found here.

If you need an Universal Binary version for your Intel-based Mac, PM me. The source is also included in the download.
