Everyone-
Just bought a big screen TV and balked at a 'surround-sound' system. Got the TV home and ran the 'audio out' RCA's into a couple of 1/4" jacks, and straight into my Fender Bassman combo. It sounds pretty good!
You might be able to justify some of your GAS Christmas List by putting a new bass amp to work in place of an overpriced TV system.
I'm just hoping that my Fender doesn't get any bad Karma if someone watches American Idol.

I love surround sound. I love it so much I prefer to watch movies at home than at the cinema nowadays.........

For surround sound, you simply need to get the Fender/Ampeg/Eden surround sound system; a combination of solid state and tube amps placed strategically throughout the room.
Rotate them clockwise every few days and on gig-night, take whatever amp is closest to the front door.
I'll be trying to add an Ampeg 220 'Rocket Bass' to my setup for stereo....and keep building. Let's see if the wife notices.

Apart from the Orpheum at Cremorne, cinema sound in Sydney sucks; my system is vastly better. Last movie I went to see wasn't even focussed properly. Can't imagine listening to movies through a combo amp; TV perhaps, but there's nothing worth watching.
My TV is getting removed next week (26th) and I'm going to have a year where my entertainment is based solely on sound, and reading.

There's an old TV in one of the wine bars I play at with a "Kill Your TV" sticker slapped across the screen. Some good advice!
Congratulations and Good Luck To You!! |

Congratulations and Good Luck To You!! | Cheers guys. I'd like one of those stickers. Apart from the odd show when I talk to my housemate in his room, I really haven't watched free to air or cable for about 10 years. Love movies though and I have a stonking HT.

They came over to check it out, and I ran a cable from my CD player into it and out through a Steel Sound 2x10 and a Yamaha SW118. The sound was mono but it actually sounded amazing, as far as clarity, power, frequency range, etc. So I hope the amp is finally getting to shine and sound good and get lots of love.
Hmm I'm gonna try hooking up my LMII to my CD player later today and see how it sounds.... now I have a Bergantino HT210S and an old Traynor YCV18 (with a Peavey Black Widow swapped out for the original Cerwin-Vega 18).... I imagine it will sound as lovely as mono can be....
