Bled all over my bass at last night's gig (WARNING: blood, guts, and gore)

I got a last minute call to play a show for some of the Super Bowl festivities last night. A few weeks before, I had somehow pinched my middle finger working in my guitar shop and had developed blood blister on the inside of the first knuckle. Well, it was a pretty loud, boisterous show, and the blood blister broke within the first four songs, and I bled profusely all over my bass for the next hour. Check it out:

I think I might have found the best bass for metal - but it would be unsanitary for anybody but myself to play it.

Back around 1980 I worked at a recording studio that had a "house bass" that three different bands borrowed for their gigs...and you could always tell when the punkiest of the three bands had done a gig the night before because that bass would be covered in blood!

You call that gore? I performed an entire three day show after being shot six times, and performing my own C-Section with nothing more than a nail file and a bottle of Jack.

All while riding a wild bull.

Jaco only needed four bottles of Jack Daniels.

Yeah, that was a thing in the 80s. Flea would put super glue and bandaids on his fingers.

My guitarist played hard rock/metal with a tiny jazz pick. On more than one occasion he would come down hard on the strings and rip his finger open around the nail bed. We're talking the skin flapping in the wind. After the fourth time or so, his pickups were covered in a brown layer of iron

But you hurt your finger at work?

Cheater.

I was hoping this thread was going to about a girl bassist gigging during her period. But this is still pretty sexy.

There was a line, and I think you just crossed it.

I think I was there. To make matters worse, you didn't have transportation. You had to walk all the way from home to the show and back, dragging your amp cabinet (praying the head didn't slip off) with one hand and your bass case in the other hand.

That's impressive! I was playing guitar at church and was getting pretty into it and my pick couldn't take it. So I ended up scraping my knuckles across the strings because most of the pick had been turned into dust. Bled all over the front of my tele because I didn't realize that I was bleeding until the end of the next song! There's still a little bit on the neck pickup cover...

every real bass player has played with bloody fingers at least once!

That's real mojo right there.

There's a small strip of blood on the bottom edge of one of my fretboards. I accidently sliced a super wide and deep gash where the side of my left index finger joins my hand. I refused to not play, despite it healing a little funny
