Pants were soaked. Attracted a lot of attention. We only got honorable mention for the battle. The doctor who gave me four sutures with no Novocaine later asked me why I was sweating, because he did all the work. Memorable day. |

On a load-out from our practice space in the singers basement, someone had the bright idea to hand stuff out a broken window. I cannot confirm or deny being party to that brilliant plan but I was dumb enough to follow suit...so, handing gear out this tiny window near the basement ceiling, I proceeded to cut the shiz out of my finger.
Our gig that day was at a biker rally and swap meet and we rocked! The blood pouring out of my finger all over my white bass and pants nearly incited a riot. I was just 16 years old at the time and that really earned me some cred.
Just try playing 30 minutes of Freebird pounding on your bass with a great big gash on your index finger. THAT is the real reason I don't want to play Freebird...love the song but the association with lightheadedness from blood loss will always haunt me.

"Hey, what's that all over it?" to the response "BLOOD!" End of conversation . . . |

| | | My grandpap once said he used to drag his double bass to gigs through the snow, uphill, both ways.
Yea, I had one of those grandpap's!
