Hi guys and gals-great forum-Ive lurked for a couple years now, finally became a member.Kinda a long story, but here goes.I've played bass several years now and guitar before that.I love it.Was in a Christian rock band and were doing quite well.Unfortunately work interfered with that so I got the boot.My son got addicted to drugs and wife has a lot of medical bills, and was tight for cash.Only thing I had was my beloved MIA 2-tone Jazz bass.Well,I did what I had to do a couple weeks ago and sold it-lost big time but we couldn't eat it.Somehow my parents heard through the grapevine(my sister) that I sold it.On Saturday folks call up,inviting us to a barn dance, and to meet them at their house before going.I get there and heres a new MIA Precision Bass Deluxe,an Ampeg BA-115 amp and a 25' monster cable.I was absolutely floored. No way expected that.My wife told me the Lord blessed me by taking away what was kinda an idol for me and when I did,he rewarded me with something even better(ok,flame on J vs. P!!)Sad part is I had to fly out the next day for a week and only got an hour of playing in-so it awaits me at home.

Larry is great but I am going to suggest you look at Dave Ramsey's books

I teach his class and it's all good stuff.

here are the bassics.

Step 1 - cut up all credit cards.

Step 2 - get 1000$ in the bank. this will be your baby emergency fund. If you have an emergency and spend some or all of the money in the emergency fund, fill it up again.

Step 3 - Debt Snowball. list all your debts small to large and then pay minimum payments on all but the smallest. The smallest you attack with a vengeance until it is gone, then take the money you would have made a payment with and apply it to the next smallest debt and attack that with a vengeance. Don't include your house payment in this calculation.

Repeat till debt free but the house.

By the way. You are never borrowing money again. Ever.

start there and you are on your way to a successfully financial future.

Thanks LD-actually my wife read Dave Ramseys book and when I get home I'm gonna read it.We don't have credit cards and that's why when we were tight she wouldn't let us go to the bank for money-so that must be where she got it.She's been saying we need to get $1,000 set aside and never touch it.

You have a fantastic wife. I am just now getting back to the point after my divorce that I can think about looking for someone, and I hope I can find someone as strong as that. There will always be other basses (You just got one of 'em... ) but you put your fam first. God bless, man.

Bobby
