Blown Speaker?

Sign in to disble this ad
How do you know if you have a blown speaker. My friend has a gk backline 110 and when the bass is up it can't handle it at higher levels (not TOO high). Also, when mids are up and on the bridge pup it destorts a little. I also looked through the bass port and noticed it had a "pyle driver" made by pyle. I thought gk used a paragon or is it different for backlines? Any help is great, thanks.

Pyle? Are you sure? These guys make low/mid end car subs and what-not. As to a blown speaker, it sounds like the cone itself is buzzing. Even with the volume very low, if you play a note and it sounds like something is buzzing (or not a clear note) then something is wrong. Another way is to remove the grill from the speaker and VERY GENTLY give the cone a slight push. You should feel no resistance in the movement of the cone. If you hear/feel a rubbing sound, then bad news...
