That bass is pretty cool! it sound pretty good for a diy chunk of cardboard.

One step up or maybe about the same as a well built wash bucket bass. I wouldn't mind having one.

Otherwise this is typical "experts" that history and discovery provides. Pretty much know nothing goobers that speak well on camera but otherwise complete morons.

when they looked at the spectrum analyzer none of them made any musical related observations. They were comparing it to noise as if they were looking at a power supply or something. not a instrument.

A real expert would have noticed that the "noise" is not noise its just more higher harmonics. So a real bass would just have more detail than a cardboard box ....duh
Likewise a real expert would have noticed that the real bass had more fundamental than the Cardboard bass.
so a real bass would have more bass than a cardboard box...duh

of course none of this was mentioned

the lame brains not understanding this just say...hey the cardboard sounds smoother.......
in our language ....muddy with no detail

I think they insulted the inventor, and what he had is a excellent idea. Could be improved by making a better body out of cardboard and a better shaped neck with 4 strings. Kah pow then you would have a purdy sweet cardboard bass.

i posted about this a week ago, i think its awesome and those investors were idiots, theres a market for cigar box guitars so why not a cardboard bass? they said they didnt want to invest because it could get damaged and then what do you do? duh you buy another one or break out the duct tape. at 100 bucks you can buy a few of those for the cost of a cheap upright. although im sure you can put a pick up in it i wonder how the projection is.

I'm pretty sure he's willing to consider private small-scale investors as well, drop him a line and ask him about it.

Well, there are NO investors left in Detriot, atasa fa sure!

Washtub. Copyright the darn thing and start selling them. Let CASH FLOW be your investor. And scale up as it allows. Then YOU get to keep the juice. Most inventors dont.

BTW, that wanky piece of cardboard sounded OK!

Not to put words in washboards mouth, but that thing wouldnt hold the tension 4 strings would put on it. Physical limitation of cardboard.

But I'm a finance guy ( not part of the 1% though!) , not a luthier or inventor.

The friction tuners are awesome! It's great schtick when I pull out my 1/2 socket wrench to tune up!

there's no tension on the cardboard

hi guys, just to add... there is NO tension on the cardboard. None at all! The neck goes thru the body in such a way that it doesnt interfere with resonance, yet it holds ALL of the string tension. Elderly Instruments elderly.com and Birdland Music birdlandmusic.net have been selling my stuff for about 4 years now.
