I didn't go to the link, but I'm assuming it's a bassdrum "trill" or "double tap"... you sort of roll your foot so you get one hit from your heel and then one from your toe, rinse, repeat. quite difficult, but very cool.

Well maybe you should hit the link because that didnt have anything to do with that. It was a clicking noise ...which to me sounded like jonsey or page tapping on their pickup.

I doesn't sound like the bass drum to me, neither is the guys tapping the pickups, I guess is somekind of strange sound that got into the mix. But definitely not the bass drum.

I don't think that was the bass drum either it sounded a lot different than the bass drum. People do double bass pedal style drumming with one pedal all the time though. Okay maybe it's not that common but there are people who do it. My dad used to play with a jazz drummer in a blues band who could do double kick stuff with one foot.

A lot of drummers use just one foot and do a lot of doubles e.g:
Nicko Mc Brain - Iron Maiden
Steve Smith - Journey
Dave Weckl

I just watched 3/5 (Babe I'm Gonna Leave You)of the lost performances and at 3:05ish Robert Plant hits a sour note and he almost cracks up. Kind of off topic but this thread lead me to watch more videos and I thought the look on his face was pretty priceless.

I could do this when I was 15, and I wasn't even a decent drummer. It just takes some practice to get the technique down. Can't do it anymore though.

Yhea, i'm sure its just some strange noise that got into the mix...Bonham looks way to relaxed when its happening.
