Boston Bass Shops?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'll be in the Plymouth, Mass area for a week around the 18th and I was wondering if anyone knew any cool bass shops in Boston. I'll most likely make a trip to the standard Guitar Center/Sam Ash but I was hoping there would be a cool shop I could check out.

There are no "bass" shops in the Boston area that I am aware of. Guitar Center is good, Daddy's is ok. I haven't been to Rock City Guitars, Mr. Music, or Nitro Tone yet though.

Its always a good idea to check out Daddy's Junky Music. You can find some very interesting used stuff in there. There's one on Mass Ave, not too far from the GC on Comm Ave. These are good because they are near the universities, especially Berklee, and serve most of the musicians in town. Lots of cool finds in both stores.

99% of the time (IME), Daddy's has nothing interesting as far as basses and bass amps are concerned. It's the same stuff you could find at any store. Sometimes there will be a cool Peavey Cirrus, and once I believe there was a Dingwall 5 string. The employees are also way too pushy with the accessories card. What a ripoff.

Check out Rock City Guitars in Somerville.

Cool little shop, that's heavy on the bass stuff.

Corey is a great guy, and I think he post on here too.

Sorry but AFAIK Cory closed Rock City a few months ago. He sold a lot of his inventory to Rockin Bob's Guitars ... also in Somerville. Most of that inventory has been sold but Bob has most of my former gear in his shop now. Another place to check is Cambridge Music on Mass Ave in Cambridge.

Peace,
S

That's too bad that Rock City closed. That was a pretty cool little shop IMO.
