Other than the fact that I am a GAS-oholic. I really love music stares because they are so full of guys in my age group
(35-55) who are into the bass and especially the funk in particular. Sometimes, I see young guys, but not that many, especially among African Americans. A ton of us are now church players, although I meet many white guys who also play mainly at church. I guess the music store is the ideal place for us to meet since most of us are no longer club hopping, and many clubs don't feature live music anyway.

+1 on that! I LOVE hanging out at Low Down Sound in Detroit. Being rather new to the area, it's been a great way to meet players (Burke, Mikebass, Vision, etc.) and hang out.

There are some KILLER pop/funk players up here, and I have yet to meet anyone who isn't totally friendly and cool.

And... the Don and the guys at LDS quickly make you feel like family. Very cool!

Hope to see you again in St. Louis sometime

I wish there were a place in STL that had the quality of gear that Lowdownsound seems to have! We get happy down here if we see a singlecut or a Lakland every once in a while.

Take care.

Funk and jazz are at my core. My dad had rock, country, and some pop, but mostly it was jazz and funk. That stuff I heard in the '70's is my foundation.
