Well I've decided on buying a Fender standard Jazz bass but when I was talking to my band teacher today he suggested it be Made in the USA or mexico. If i bought one for $439 from musiciansfriends.com would it be made in the USA, Mexico or Asia?

That's the price break for the Mexican Jazz. Not a bad instrument, and depending on the actual bass you get, it could be an excellent one. They call that the 'standard' series.

It'll be a Mexican - nice basses! Enjoy!

That's Mexican. The American ones are closer to 1000$ and are generally better constructed with better parts. However, it's mostly a consistency issue - you may just get a Mexican one that plays better than an American.
