Buying from Musicians friend online, is it safe?

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to buy a Gallien-Krueger 2001rb bass head off of Musicians friend, for anyone that has experience with this site, i was just wondering if it's safe. It seems pretty secure but i want to make sure. Do they take long to ship their items and are they shipped with care. Also They have the GK 2001 head going for 1300 plus shipping and stuff, how much do they go for usually, is that a good price or is it a little high? thanks for the help

MF is safe and secure and ships very fast if the item is in stock.
I use 'em all the time paying with VISA. Never a problem.
There stuff is well packed. I imagine a GK head would be kept in the factory carton.

As a side note, I have found that MF is generally safe (as safe as any other online retailer) and ships in-stock items fairly quickly.

MF will work just fine. But RMC has the best prices on new GK's i've seen. Many here have bought from them.

Great choice of heads, by the way

I bought my 4003 through them and it was great. Bass came flawless and the price was reasonable. They actually cancelled the sale the first time I tried it becasue they were unable to recieve verification from my bank that I had made the purchase. I screwed up the billing address by one number, they contacted the bank who didn't hae clue, and stopped it. Not a dime left my account until they called me personally and I gave them the info, etc. Your on your own with value, etc, but safe transactions with them have not been an issue for me. I have done others, but that one impressed me the most.

I have dealt with MF frequently and with no bumps; quick delivery if in stock.

I'm down on MF at the moment. I ordered a couple sets of strings from MF on January 18. They allegedly shipped on January 19 via USPS, but that order never arrived, and the USPS confirmation number MF provided is invalid. After several inquiries from me, they agreed to re-ship the order, and allegedly shipped it on February 6, this time via UPS. But that order has not arrived, and the UPS tracking number they provided is also invalid. I'm skeptical about whether they actually shipped my order either time.

MF is fine as long as you understand that it is like purchasing from Amazon or Walmart. The people on the phone or packaging up your product don't know jack about it.

They often run good promos. If the computer says it is in stock, they will ship it to you fast. If there is a problem there will be no hassle returning it.

Don't expect anything beyond that. They have no knowledge of the product and the sales people don't have access to those in the warehouse in order to examine a product or anything like that.

MF is safe but definately go with RMC audio for GK products.

I bought my 1001 and Neo 212 Cab from them and saved around $250.

Bought GK MBl50S from RCM Audio..great service and best price around. Also bought different strings from MF with absoutely no problem. For value, RCM is the way to go.

Personally, I will never deal with MF again.

I went to Guitar Center to see if I could get a Schecter bass case. They said Schecter dosn't make a case for their basses, I said really? (and then showed them a picture of one) anyway they said they couldn't get one.

So anyway, my wife ordered me one through MF as a Christmas suprise. She had it sent to her work so that I wouldn't see it until Christmas. When it came it had a big hole in the box, she opened it and it had a broken handle (more than likely UPS's fault). She called MF and told them they said that it was UPS's fault, and gave her the run around. UPS said that MF needed to file the claim since MF was the shipper. After countless calls to MF and them being rude to her, eight months later she finally got in the case.

I've never had a problem with MF, even the times I had to return things, so I feel that it's a safe place to buy from. as far as prices, check with Bass Central. I bought a new GK 2001RBP (the preamp version) and it was quite a bit less than RCMaudio. Bass Central is also a sponser of this site and they have their own forum. good luck!

I've had many problems with MF. They can't control their stock properly and sell stuff they don't have. Customer service sucks too... Site is secure, no problems with that... BTW, this shouldn't be in the BASSES forum.

Musician's Friend is Guitar Center. If you feel comfortable dealing with GC, then MF shouldn't be a problem.

I've bought GK amps from MF before.

I have been dealing with MF since the late eighties, but I've also had some bad CS people (who didn't bend a rule when they should've) piss me off - but overall I've had good experiences with them. I always will look for the best price.
