Buying Shipping Boxes

Sign in to disble this ad
I know that this has been covered before, but I couldn't find it so I am just gonna ask. I need to ship a bass in it's hardshell case this weekend - where can I get / buy a box (Phoenix Area) to do this?

I know some people are gonna say go to Guitar Center, and I'll check them out, but I am not expecting to get lucky so are there any other ideas?

I thought someone had posted something about mail order boxes, anyone recall this?

Thanks in advance!!

If you have UPS stores out there or any kind of store like that, you can buy a box from them that will fit. They can pack it and ship it for you too if you'd like.

Go look up if there's any locations near you.

Just go to your preferred shipper and let them take care of it, be sure to insure it for it's full value as well. I work and deliever packages for one of the two major shippers and I see more and more packages arrived damaged or nearly falling open because the shipper (some guy in his home) figured that one piece of packing tape over the flaps would hold his box that's being used for the 40th time together....those are the boxes that don't make it through the terminal in one piece. Anyways, I degress...for something as valuable as a bass, just let the pros take care of it...that's not me trying to get them business (they don't need anymore), it's just first hand experience speaking.

Hell..

I've been doing this for years. I simply get an over-sized and sturdy (stiff) box, nice and long, and make my own shipping case right over the hardshell. I still have one in my closet that I used to ship my Strat to Raleigh in last December. I got the geeetar out of the box-case, and just saved it for the next time I wanna do that again.

But if you can't trust yourself to build your own, then yeah..let your preferred shipper bear the burden and the risk involved. Ain't hard to design and build one.. providing you have the time and patience for it

Stop by Guitar Center and ask them if they have one. I recently did so and got one that filled the bill.
