Buying something that ships only to america and getting your friend to ship it to you

Sign in to disble this ad
I live in Ireland and Ive found an amazing deal on musicians friend for a guitar amp but they dont ship to Ireland. I have a cousin who lives in Cleaveland and I was wondering if I could get Musicians Friend to ship it to her and then she could ship it to me. Its a marshall stack so it would probrobly cost a lot to ship. Im wondering if anyone has done this before or has any experience with it. Thanks

I've done that kind of thing before. The problem is, it will cost your friend so much to ship it to you that it will surely exceed the "amazing deal" of the price on MF. I'm not even kidding, for an individual (as opposed to a massive corporation that has negotiated special pricing from shipping companies) to ship an amp within the US can cost $40 to $100 easily depending on the amp; to Ireland I imagine it would be double that. Plus your friend has to deal with the paperwork. Then, when the amp arrives to you, you'll have to pay a hefty import tax.

yes, bongomania is correct. Usually that kind of deal works better if it is a small item, like pickups, preamps etc, and I think it would be hard to declare a lower $ value on a Marshall stack

Ship it around Christmas time. With all the parcels flying around at that time Customs might not notice a small parcel like a Marshall stack!
