Question Cable Protection?

Sign in to disble this ad
I really care about maintaining the tone of my bass through the signal path so I bought some really nice, expensive cables. I carefully route them so that I can avoid walking on them but other members of the band don't share my caution. What suggestions do you have for protecting them or keeping others from walking on them?

Hi.

A kind word and a two by four always works better than just a kind word .

Other than cable bridges and locating Your gear in a way that no-one walks over Your cables, there's no way that
I know of preventing that.

Wireless, or don't worry about it.

I usually play on small stages. My cables are going to get walked on, that is just a fact of life at live gigs. Just buy some good quality cables and save your expensive cables for the studio.

And *always* carry a spare.

Go wireless.

Why?

Cables are perishable. You buy them, use them, walk on them, they eventually break and you get new ones. I have no problem with this, so the option is - wireless. I also think that you're worrying a LOT too much about the cables.

I have a couple of those armoured cables. I would think the same principle could apply. I have no idea where you could get those armoured sheathes, but Im sure you could somewhere. I tank couldnt hurt those things.

I guess just be as careful as you can and forget it.I have always bought better than average cables and never had one fail.I use Monsters now and GC says if they fail, bring it back(without a receipt even) and get a new one.
