Cage The Elephant on Letterman

Anyone watch this? They're a local band (in a medium sized town, maybe 80,000 people when outlying areas are considered), so it was kind of a community event for kids between 14 and 30, and then for some parents who knew the guys growing up. These are friends of mine, and had a rather large impact on the music scene around here. Hell, I was at their first show.

So I just wanted to see if anyone else saw them on Letterman and what they thought (I will say it wasn't their greatest performance, but that would probably just sound like I'm defending friends).

I'm also curious if anyone had heard (of) them without the influence of Letterman. Of course we already knew them, so it's hard to relate, but from what I've been told their doing pretty well.

A friend of mine turned me on to them about 2 months ago - he's a 44 year old Canadian biker/mechanic, so it's safe to say they were known outside Bowling Green pre-letterman!

I believe they get some airplay on one of the local radio stations (that I don't listen to...). Cool band, I like them.

I didn't catch the Letterman performance, but I've definitely heard of them. They get played more than a bunch in the SF bay area on radio stations, people seem to like them a lot.

Saw them recently on one of the Video channels - first time this week - but I live in a Cave and don't get out much : )

I actually play in a band that covers one of their songs, it's not bad at all. Never heard of 'em before that, but I don't stay on top of the modern rock scene.

Do you mind if I ask which song? I would guess Ain't No Rest For The Wicked, but I hope it's Tiny Little Robots.

Haha. The original recording of that song had a solid two year run as the most requested local song on the local college radio station, on top of the fact that the new recording gets Sirius Radio play, as well as in our FYE record shop, and our Best Buy. I love these guys, but I think it's time to give another song a shot. Ha.

My daughter and I saw them at Bamboozle this year. They were horrible live - I mean drunk, and BAD. She turned me on to some of their recorded stuff, which was actually pretty good.

Ain't No Rest For The Wicked gets regular rotation on alternative radio here.

Not my thing, but obviously someone enjoys it.

If memory serves, they were recommended to me by Amazon six months ago because I enjoyed MGMT.

Can't say I've ever heard of them, but I'll definitely check them out now.

Ain't No Rest For The Wicked is on the Q101 rotation (the big chicago alternative station). Badass song damned catchy.

Best name for a band ever. They get a bunch of air time on some local stations. So much so that I thought they were a Canadian band (a certain amount of content has to be Canadian).

Heard "No Rest For The Wicked" on alt rock radio. Alright stuff. A friend of mine is obsessed about them though, so I'd say they're doing pretty well.

The fact that this thread is even moderately self-sufficient is evidence enough for me. Haha.

I live in Louisville, KY and Ain't no Rest for the Wicked is played about once every 2 hours. I love this band.

I really love the song "In one Ear"

Hey, Georgetown. I ate at your IHOP last friday.

In One Ear ranks just below Tiny Little Robots for me, and just above James Brown.

I stand by the fact that Ain't No Rest For The Wicked is a great song, but that it has been jaded for me. Ha.

We have an IHOP? Since when?

Sure you were in Georgetown, IN? Not Kentucky?

Saw them open up for Qotsa. gotta say I didn't care for the tunes or their strange pants. But I did get this photo in the London Paper

"Up close: Matt Schultz of Cage the Elephant jumped into the crowd while opening for Queens of the Stone Age at Centennial Hall."

Haha. Yeah, it's somewhere right over the river. In what appeared to be a really mall-ish area, if you get what I mean.
