Can you recommend drum machine?

Hey. I'm a brand new student bass player. While playing with my Bass for Dummies CD this weekend I realized how much fun it would be to have a drum machine. I've looked at all the internet ads but I don't know what I'm doing. The Yamaha RY-9 looks good to me. Can ya'll recommend anything for a newbie? Apologies if I'm in the wrong forum.

Thanks.

For the price of a Yamaha RY-9 you can get a used Roland GrooveBox D2 (bottom of the GrooveBox line), much more than a drum machine and CHEAP!

Here's two good drum machines you can get for $100 or less

Alesis SR-16 for programming and MIDI features. It's a great little box, and it's been an industry standard for years.

For cool sounds, the Zoom RT-3 is great. Limited in MIDI features, but works great when all you want to do is program and play a beat.
