I am curious if others have the problem I have. after a gig or even band practice I have a very hard time getting any sleep. I get so much adrenaline going that I can't seem to come down from it. My band mates don't have this issue as they all drink beer and sleep like babies. But I never drink at practice or gigs (or any time I have to drive) not even one beer.
Am I the only one or do others have this problem? If so, how do you deal with it?

If you were playing loud and not using ear plugs, the ringing in your ears could keep you up, it would with me. But I'm guessing that isn't the problem here.
Try jumping around more

I always go nuts on stage, get loaded out around 2 or 3am, get to where we're sleeping, and CRASH. Sleeping afterward isn't ever the problem. The problem is waking up at 9-10am. Especially on the mornings where alcohol was included the night before.

I normally drink Gatorade at practice and gigs so I know its not a caffeine issue. I feel wired, mind racing, yet exhausted and wishing for sleep.

So two gigs in one day and I still couldn't sleep. I also work my butt off loading, unloading, setting up etc. and I'm a bit of a maniac on stage, very high energy playing style. That is what I believe is my problem, I am building up too much adrenaline and not coming down from it for 6-8 hours.

Dep gig where I have to chase the 'guy' for key's, version's, endings, info that is so easy to be prep'd with, then it takes the buzz out for me on the work/enjoyment score, I think little of it and sleep easy....but if it's been a stormer with a tight band, great comm's or familiar faces or my regular stints.....when I get home...I want to get on the good foot and party. |

also, stretch before/after you play (your whole body) and wear ear plugs (it's more than just ringing)

I could watch a golf or fishing show and even they won't bore me to sleep. Ever been up at 4:00 AM watching MASH reruns wide awake? It sucks....

i cant' say i've ever had problems going to sleep after a gig. Sometimes when i get off work at the restaurant i work at at 1-1:30 i have a hard time winding back down, but not really gigs. Lay off the gatorade. |
