Those of us here, in the great white north have lost a true original this week, Frankie Venom (Kerr) passed away on Monday at the age of 51.
Frankie was the lead singer and co-founder of a Canadian band, institution actually, Teenage Head. They have been referred to as Canada's Ramones, with punk/rockabilly music. Many of us here in Canada grew up with this band playing both bars and local schools from the late 70's until present day.
Their music was pure energy, not complicated, sophisticated, but toe tapping and dance inducing. Some of my best memories are of seeing this band in a bar and the complete sense of exhaustion I felt after taking part in their show... the audience was a huge part of their show.
RIP Frankie, I was a "Nice day for a party, wasn't it!"
