Canopener/Flatwound appreciation thread

I put this in misc because it's string/inspiration/tb member related.

I posted up a thread in strings a while ago, trying to find a cheaper place to buy flats, because locally, they sell them for 50 bucks a pack because they are the only game in town. After a while, canopener chimed in saying he had some old flats laying around, and he sent them to me for free! Just gotta give some public props to canopener... and talkbass in general, I've gotten free CDs, strings, a LEATHER STRAP (Jared Morante... is that how you spell it? I haven't seen him in a while)... and all I've given in return is a Zoom Multi Effects processor to Osama Spears (man, talk about trading trash for treasure). Regardless, what an awesome online community.

As for the strings... I just pryed myself away from my rig after playing for an hour and a half or two hours. It's not really long, but I haven't played that long (outside of band practice) in a while. I am diggin' flats hard! I can dial in some nasty tone while still sounding great... I can get some smooooooooth tone too! I can tell it will work in a heavy setting (well we play old school metal Priest/Sabbath, so it will work), but I was playing a lot of jazzy/funky stuff that I haven't in a while. It's a return to my roots! I'm going to have to start a new band on the basis of these strings

So I say, if you haven't checked ouf flats, consider it... you never know. You might hate it, you might love it... who knows.

My fingers are taking a little while to get use to the feel though... but they aren't getting tore up!

I have never recieved anything from any TB members other than awesome advice.
But I tried my Roto flats due to positive reactions from several TBers and have never looked back. I love my Jazz more now than I thought I could.

They are an expensive set of strings to try out but well worth it from my point of view.

Someone stole my strap
And, I can't afford new strings!

Anyways, congrats!

EDIT: Just re-read the thread. WAY off topic.

I've given to and recieved freebies from TB members and couldn't be more grateful. Just pass it forward and hopefully everyone will feel and be inspired the generosity before them.
