Well I use a capo sometimes, only sometimes. I use it when i'm too lazy to tune down. I'll put it on my Eb on the B string so i'm tuned down a half step and on the D when I want to be a full step or C when i'm playing St. Anger stuff and System of a Down.

Bob Rock used one on "All Within My Hands" I think.

I recently changed my tuning to A D G C F so I don't have to change tunings or get a second bass. I use a capo when I play songs that require an open E. Probally the best thing I have done to my bass.Works really good too.
