Career options in music when im older

Hi im only 14 but i am very intrested in my career choice as in about 6 months im choosing my senior subjects for 2011.
what career options are available in studio such as producing, recording etc? would it require extra school studies etc.

a comprehensive study in music theory would stand you in good stead.
if you want to work in studios,studying keyboards as well as bass will help.the best studio gigs stem from arranging which will lead to composition.the computer science needed for production you can pretty much pick up along the way.hope that helps

thanks, i think i know quite alot of theory well atleast for my age at the moment, reading music both clefs, constructing arpeggios scales modes

If I were you, I would go to college and pursue a degree that has wider application than just the music business. The revenue stream that has in the past paid the salaries of music professionals has mainly originated in record sales, and since the rise of digital audio, the revenue generated by sales has been in steep decline. Also, the economic turmoil that the world has been undergoing lately is far from over, and music is a non-essential expense for most folks.

Free advice and worth every penny...
