hello,

i just bought my boyfriend a fender hardshell p bass case for xmas. i ordered it on ebay, and it arrived yesterday and i tried to open it... and couldnt.

it appears that the 2 locked hinges are... locked! i could not figure out a way to get the thing open, and i feel like i must be missing something here since there wasnt a key taped inside.

am i retarded? should i have been sent a key and was not? can any key for fender cases open it? please advise. i dont want to give an 'incomplete' xmas gift.

thanks for your help!!

Take it to a music store and see if they can open it, they might have a key, or someone that can pick the lock. Very simple lock and I am sure someone there has had to pick there own(lock).

Just watch out for that poisonous snake coiled up in the case!

...That's really weird. I was under the impression all those locks were latches, so they couldn't lock unless you physically turned a key that turned those latches...

try pushing the round parts where the key go in outwards towards the ends of the case......sounds like one of the rectangular vintage styled cases.

First off, what a great girlfriend you are!

Not to be insulting or anything, but be sure you try to move the latch buttons every way that they could possibly go, including pushing straight in on them. The correct direction should be easy; you should not have to force it. Failing that, the suggestion of taking the case to a music store is a good one.
