Which case for my Jazz bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've finally decided my Classic 60's Jazz bass is a keeper, so I want to get a Fender case for it.

I'm torn between tweed with red poodle plush interior and black with orange poodle plush. My bass is 3TS/tort/rosewood. Which would you choose?

Black. Tweed gets real ugly when it gets dirty.

Can we pick the color of your pantyhose next?

I would go with Tweed on this one but it's really a matter of whatever you like.

The correct look for that period is tweed, or tan Tolex.

If you do get the tweed, here's something I did with mine. I got it in '94 (maybe '95, I'm not sure). When I got home, I sprayed Scotchgard on it to help protect it a bit from the rain. It also seemed to help prevent it from staining. It still looks good today.

Actually, I'm glad you brought this up. I think I'll give it another treatment soon. It's probably due, since it's been about 14 years...

Cool

My Stu Hamm Urge II came with the tweed case and orange plush interior. I have great reservations about the practicality of the tweed case - as nice as it is to look at, to me it's more of a case of function following form as it would, as someone else commented, get really ugly if it got dirty. The red plush interior does look nice and, I think, would actually look better paired with the black case; in a vampire coffin kinda way. I suppose you have to ask yourself how much time you spend staring at the interior of your bass case vs. how well the case does its job. Just my two cents on a first post.

Tweed. I think they look cool when they discolor, just like the old Fender amps.

If I go tweed, I'd probably lacquer it. Thanks for your opinions, guys.
