Cat + Stand = :(

My cat recently had its way with my guitar stand. I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with this before and if you know a way I can prevent him from destroying my other stands.

Phew! I thought we were going to see a picture of a broken bass that your cat knocked off it's stand!

That foam is really soft and chewy, unless you sprayed it with some kind of "cat-away" product, I doubt there is much you can do. Also, sprays my stain your bass.

A burlap bag, a brick and a long stroll off a short peer! Just joking... no really I am...
Try sprinkling some Cayene pepper on the stand, that should do it for yah!

Dip it in that pheremone liquid stuff that's supposed to make them stay off furniture and stuff.

Petco has several spray on products that might help. One of them has bitter apple scent which cats don't like at all.

Sell the cat. You can probably make enough to buy some other nifty equipment that won't ruin what you already have!

But, in response to the thread starter, i suggest you get one of these. First, time i saw them i was like that think couldnt hold anything over 4 pounds. Fortunately, i was wrong it's probably the strongest, most stable stand ive ever used. I tested it with my 12 pound Yamaha TRB6 and it held it with no problems i even poked at it to see if it would tip over (reckless, i know but curiosity got the best of me) and it wouldn't. And the cushion is made of some sort or weird leathery foam thats more dense than normal guitar stand cushioning and seemingly less "chewable/clawable" (not that i tried :P) because of it. Id say its a good choice. If not then i guess there are always wall hangers.

It's probably not as easy to sell a cat online as it is to sell a bass.

My cat loves it when I play bass. She hears the latches on the case or the zipper on the gig bag and she comes running. Then she lays at my feet and wants me to pet her.

Or you could use one of these and let the cat have it's way with the stand. Shown here w/ my 64 P, It works w/ nearly anything that has a handle.
