Anyone here play cello as well as bass? Just wondering because the scale is pretty much the same. I would think once you get used to the tuning it would translate pretty well. Just curious.
I used to play cello in elementary school but gave it up when I changed schools in fifth grade. Now I'm taking lessons again for college credit this semester.
It took me no time at all to get used to the fifths, even though I hadn't played cello for about ten years. (That's interesting because I can't get used to fifths on the mandolin, as hard as I try).
I know what you mean. Mandolin is very hard for me but I think it's more because of the scale than the fifths. It just seems like cello would be a logical transition from bass. I'm considering buying one. I do alot of bass/acoustic guitar duo work and I think cello would be a sexy addition.
