Cheap Hardcase or Multiple-Instrument Cases

Sign in to disble this ad
My wife just hit me with the fact that when we move, I'm going to need cases for all my instruments. I'd like to get hard-cases OR semi-hard cases like the SKB ones. I need around 8 cases... maybe more. Spending $50 each at MusiciansFriend, while a worthy investment, just seems silly.

Are there any other sources for a good, hard case that'll keep an instrument well protected while on the move, but won't break the bank?
Can you buy cases in bulk for a discount anywhere?
Does anyone produce a big rolling case to fit multiple instruments besides AS Case (or whatever the site was)?

Hi.

If You only need the case for moving, I'd suggest renting an instrument tour case from a sound company. Shouldn't break the bank.

Alternatively You can keep your eye out for a large universal ATA-style case and make the dividers yourself. The ones for large profile spotlights are big enough to sleep in (and I have).

Storing a single huge ATA case might be a PITA though, and whatever You put in there, be prepared to have 4 persons when moving it. They get really heavy, really fast.

Regards
Sam

I know about the heavy thing. I was looking at some custom ones were the case alone weighs 200 lbs. Now, if I planned on keeping the instrument on the ground floor, and the instruments in it at all times, I'd go for it, but since I don't foresee a world tour anytime soon, the case just isn't in the cards.
