Hey all,
I recently posted on talkbass looking to try out some Avatar cabs.
A few folks responded and I was able to successfully meet with them.
The success of this interaction got me to thinking: why not a dedicated regional thread, group, or 'club'? The goal of this would be to allow fellow bassists to try out gear that they would normally have to buy blindly or simply not have access to. A lot of us do not have the cash and time to buy things on a trial basis; even just covering shipping costs gets expensive.
This is not intended to serve as a classifieds or anything else that will get me banned.
I guess I'll get the ball rolling and list my gear:
GK 800rb
Ampeg 410hlf
Peavey t40
G&L LB100
Fulltone bass drive
And a few more pedals I can't think of off the top of my head. |

My gear is listed in my profile.

A meeting would be great. I know that Jacquo-III(sp?) occasionally hosts events with a featured bassists. They're pretty well centralized in the city, near the new Bottom Lounge. Maybe people would be willing to meet up before/after one of those? |

I will have a custom "fEarful" cabinet soon for you guys to try... Also I plan on modding an Avatar SB112 cab with a new crossover/horn, to make it more "full range" and suitable for PA use.
I tend to go non-traditional whenever I can, so I'll contribute as much as possible if people want to try out weird stuff.

Thanks for the plug Rob. | I went to one of these events a few months ago and it was great.
How late will this go tonight?
I have class until 930 but would like to make it out. |

Respond if you want a number. Let us know about bassings in Chicago.

| | Johnny and Joe | | Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Chicago | | Good idea for a thread. The show Jaquo hosted was great (as usual). Unfortunately, my pics didn't come out well at all.
Those of us in the Lakland Owners Group (LOG) are in the process of scheduling a local GTG, which may take place at Lakland (they'll be involved with it, at any rate). I'll let y'all know when plans are more concrete--other basses are always welcome at these events.
If you don't mind, I'll pass on a number for now. I'm trying to cut down.

Although after last weekend's slight dampening, and the subsequent two feet of water in my basement, some of my gear may not be exactly up to working condition, I should also have a fEarful 1515/66 to play with by the end of the summer (or maybe 1x15/2x10 depending on what got ruined).
And let us know when the next show is, Jauqo.
