Just watched a show on Rush...The last time I saw them was in Texas...They were playing with UFO which must have been 1976 or so. Anyway I really enjoyed the show. Geddy Lee's voice sounds better then ever, everyone was cookin. So, I'm sure it's common knowledge , but what are the chicken roasters?.

Geddy has undertaken many years of advanced Vedic Training and, as well as being a Grand Master in Llap-Goch, has the ability to channel the core tone of his Bass directly to the desk.
A curious side-effect is the manifestation of what appear to be, in our dimension, "Chicken Roasters". No-one knows exactly what they really are, but they seem benign.
A few years back the perturbations in the Fabric of Reality resulted in "Tumble Dryers", so it could be worse.
Jaco perfected the technique so that the ripples in the space-time continuum manifested as a full Acoustic rig. Geddy has a way to go before becoming a Perfect Master, I guess.

Geddy doesn't have a stack of amps, so on a previous tour, he had washers and dryers going on stage. I guess he just decided to up the ante on Snakes and Arrows with the rotisseries.
When I saw them on that tour, they had people come out in the stage and baste the chickens every so often.
Have you ever visited the website? Funny stuff!

I'm surprised there aren't more organic overdrive effects like chicken used in mainstream rock today. |

He went through a Sunn phase, then a flirt with Ampeg, then began to use separate racked pre- and power amps with custom cabs. I'm not 100% certain what his signal looks like now, but its SansAmp RPM +.
He'd said that the stage looked weird with Alex's H&Ks on one side and a bass rig on the other, so it was just a goofy way of taking up space.
He's had refrigerators with magnets from all of the tour cities, LunchMat sandwich vending machines, dryers with souvenir shirts to be thrown into the audience.
Most lately, he's gone to rotisserie chicken broilers:
Who knows what he'll have behind him this summer!! |
