Haven't been on here for a while, and searched around but couldn't really find anything similar that wasn't waaay to old..

Just wanted to say, saw RHCP last night in Melbourne at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. It was an insane show.. I went in there knowing that they haven't been playing much older material, so I wasn't too dissapointed about no under the bridge etc and was happy as larry to watch them play anything..

One thing that just blew me away were the jams, they've seriously got their connections and skills down to a tee.. It was amazing.

So, I was suprised (and freakin excited) to here that tonight chad, flea and john were playing in fed sqaure (basically a public paved area in the city where many acts/shows/festivities are held). And not only that, but for free.

I found out when I got in the door from work, had an hour and a half till they started and it takes just over an hour to get there. So ran under the shower, and ran to the station to jump on a train..

All I can say is, wow. The three of them improv jammed for 30 minutes non stop (also played with the guy they've been using live for backup keys/guitar etc who is extremely talented.. Reminds me of a young John Frusciante) and it was one of the most amazing musical things i've ever seen or heard (and I spend the majority of my time at gigs, including latin/jazz/funk clubs for all the 'elitists' ) in front of me.. Took me on a complete journey and the fact that I was about 5 metres from Frusciante was incredible.

The fact that they did the show(at 6.30pm, when they gates to their concert opened at 6pm, lol! had to rush out of there quick) at all was great, let alone it being for free was amazing I thought. I then went and listened to them play from outside the music bowl (outside venue which was fenced off) and as of 30 mins ago have just bought airfare and a floor ticket to their last sydney show.. Can't wait, it's gonna be rad.

I've been a big fan for a long time (i'm one of those kids where flea really got me into playing more and expanding my musical horizons), so I'm kinda biased in a way, heh.. But I've really been that impressed with their musicianship, energy, and everything about their show..

So impressed, I thought i'd share Now all I've got to do is meet them in Sydney (wish I knew where they were staying up there =/) and i'm set for life! Heh

Anyone else had similar experiences with big bands sharing the love around?
