Thoughts?

Different than I expected, but I like it!

I heard one or two songs from it, and it was absolutely awful. The music was really boring and repetitive, the loops were annoying (and hardly ever changed) and some of the singing and lyrics were ridiculous.

Chris Cornell has fallen far in my eyes.

He's trying something different, nothing wrong with that IMHO. I'll give it a shot.

I almost started a thread on this earlier.

I'd read an interview with Cornell where he'd used "Dark Side of the Moon" as an example of what he wanted to do with this album. Not in terms of sound, but wanting to have an album where people would want to listen to the whole thing from beginning to end. IMO he failed.

I always applaud an artist for trying to do something different, but this just doesn't work. Instead of a Gnarls Barkley mish-mash of styles that somehow join seamlessly you get very disparate elements that just don't fit. It sounds like exactly what it is, Chris Cornell singing over Timbaland beats. Just like the first Audioslave album sounded like Cornell singing over Rage outtakes.

I didn't like it at all.

Hearing Cornell sing is akin to being stuck in back of a panel van in slow traffic, unable to change lanes to get past the obstacle.

That is the only reason that album was any good.
