Chuck Mangione blows....
... a mean horn!
Charles Meeks doesn't suck.
Did I post in the wrong place?
...he had a really good band back then; unfortunately, they got sucked into too much of a Fuzak-vibe.
Buffalo NY plane crash
A couple of his band members were killed several years ago. I'm not sure if they were part of the original band.
I think the guy who played bass on the hits in the 70's played a Stingray.
I was listening to Live at the Hollywood Bowl when I posted. I heard that album a lot around the house as a young teen and it stuck with me.
Some really good players on that record.
I scored free tix to see Chuck at a dinner club back in the 80's. I was big into punk rock at the time and thought Chuck would be super lame and only went for the free meal that came with the free ticket. I ended up being quite impressed.
Saw the "Feels So Good" band in 78 at the Orpheum in Memphis, Tn. Solid mind meld rhythm section. Charlie Meeks was playing a stingray (dont recall amp}. The band was tight-n -right and they all looked like they were enjoying themselves. Not much history of Charlie Meeks on the intranet, but his name pops up here from time to time.
When I think of Chuck Mangione I think of the Mega-Lo-Mart....
I dug the early stuff with Alphonso Johnson on bass, Chuck always had a great band.
